HS4U
Healthy Ship 4 U (HS4U) is a cross-national 3-year long Research and Innovation Action (01/09/2022-31/08/2025), supported by the European Union within the framework of the Horizon Europe programme. The project involves a multidisciplinary consortium of 22 partners from 8 different countries. Its aim is to develop and demonstrate holistic ship design solutions that will facilitate the early detection, prevention, and mitigation of general health conditions, pandemic crises and communicable disease outbreaks in large passenger and cruise ships by ensuring healthy ship operations and safe return to port during a health emergency.
MSc in Public Health and Maritime Transport
The MSc in Public Health and Maritime Transport aims to provide skills for a career in public health, epidemiology, occupational health, environmental health, as well as in the application of those skills in the context of maritime transport.The MSc will suit both those who will follow a career in the health and related sectors and those who will work or already working in the maritime sector. It is suitable for both medical and non-medical backgrounds who intend to develop their research and technical professional skills.Teaching staff for the MSc Course lecturers are leaders in academic fields of applied epidemiology, public health, environmental health and hygiene, chronic diseases and infectious diseases, maritime health, health economics, occupational health including seafarers, human resources management and shipping economics. Guest lecturers include professionals in the public health sector with applied experience in maritime public health aspects.
EU SHIPSAN ASSOCIATION
The “European Scientific Association for Health and Hygiene in Maritime Transport”, under the distinctive title of “EU SHIPSAN ASSOCIATION” is a legal entity in the form of a civil association of non-profit purpose. The EU SHIPSAN ASSOCIATION was established in 2018 in order to ensure the continuation and sustainability of the activities of the EU SHIPSAN ACT joint action. The association now consists of a total of 114 members of which 20 founding, 5 ordinary, 5 honorary and 84 Observers from 25 countries including 18 EU (Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain) and Australia, Canada, Norway, Serbia, United Kingdom, United States of America and Taiwan CDC. The main purpose of EU SHIPSAN ASSOCIATION is to support and participate in the EU HEALTHY GATEWAYS Joint Action and all relevant forthcoming actions in, amongst or in cooperation with EU member States and EU authorities, including all relevant future programs, actions or projects.
EU HEALTHY GATEWAYS
The Joint Action Preparedness and action at points of entry (ports, airports, and ground crossings) with acronym HEALTHY GATEWAYS was prepared under the framework of the 2017 Annual Work Programme and has received funding from the European Union, in the framework of the Third Health Programme (2014-2020). A total of 38 authorities (17 partners, 3 affiliated entities, 18 collaborating stakeholders) from 28 European countries and Taiwan CDC participate in the HEALTHY GATEWAYS Joint Action consortium.
